I don't quite buy Shazam and Billy Batson as the same character. You can't help but root for a protagonist who, once he realises he has superpowers, uses them to make strangers pay for selfies with him and to pose at the top of the steps where Stallone's Rocky Balboa used to do his workouts.

When the boy hero Shazam is offered to join the Justice League he is reluctant about it, but when his rivals the Monster Society put the League in peril he's the only one who can save them. and to that the answer is still somehow yes. This is a fun DVD to watch, is the same quality and level of fun as other LEGO DC movies. I guess it's supposed to be something like with Spider-Man where when he's in the suit, he lets loose and feels more free to get all his quips going, but with Spider-Man that works better because the character is still played by Tom Holland.
