Thankfully, in regards to the vague genre of erotic cinema, this film falls into the art-house category (this is miles away from 50 Shades of Grey or Basic Instinct). This works, partly, because these are all – to differing extents – part of the everyday (though not to the extent shown here – for most at least).

And all of this works. It is, to be blunt, yet another film about a male protagonist who is defined by the death of his wife (the opening scene is her death by drowning, which is shown very carefully – to the extent that it is barely shown at all).
