The level of service at the Grand never ceases to amaze me...it's truly like being transported to a bygone era...a much more formal time, but in a good way. The decor was beautiful and the porch was iconic.

Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island has 393 unique guest rooms each individually decorated by Carleton Varney. The drinks ARE a little pricey -- but in a place where the rooms are $700 a night, not surprising -- but they do allow you to skip the $10 visitor fee you'd otherwise have to pay.

If you read their site it clearly states there is no tipping because for the convenience of the guests an additional service charge is added to the room charge.

Box 286, Mackinac Island, MI 49757This was our first time on Mackinac Island, and we wanted the full Grand Hotel experience. The bathroom was clean and the shower had good water pressure. You walk, ride bikes, horses or ride in a horse and buggy.

We are dealing with a staffing shortage due to COVID and are working our best to properly train our new staff members. This is the place to relax on the long porch with its wonderful views, to play bocce ball or golf or bike or just walk around as the mood strikes. Grand Hotel is rich in history and offers exceptional accommodations, with each guest room uniquely decorated. Not only were the drinks great but the view had to be the best on the island. Grand Hotel has always embraced its rich history, but kept up well with the times. This charming old hotel is very well maintained, staff are professional and friendly, the food is very good, musicians (in dining room, coffee area, bar) are excellent. We strive to provide excellence in our hospitality services and regret that this was not your experience during your stay. Service - I was shocked at the poor training of the staff. We would also like to apologize that you found any lack of quality in our menu.

Our room was ready earlier than expected.. the room was good size with a flat screen TV and good lighting. We stayed in an interior room with a king-size bed. There are no cars on the island. We always take our own bicycles and park them in The Grand's parking lot ( for bicycles only).

Today, guests enjoy modern amenities while the hotel's original architecture and charm have been tastefully preserved.
